The next generation NSX defies conventional ideas about supercars, just as the original NSX did twenty-five years earlier. With an all-new sports hybrid power unit delivering more than 550 total horsepower and impulse-quick handling response, the production model of the Acura NSX heralds—and leads —a new era of human-centred automotive performance.

Form and function flow together seamlessly in the NSX. A classic low and wide stance shows off modern and alluring lines, while an aggressive front design and tail-lights pay homage to the original NSX. Every element of the exterior body design has been carefully fashioned for total airflow management for both stability-enhancing downforce and vehicle systems cooling. Extensive testing in a state-of-the-art wind tunnel from concept to final design lead to advanced refinements, including modified hood vents, new front fender vents, modified side air intakes, and an optimized deck spoiler.

As the apex achievement of Acura’s ‘human-centred’ development philosophy, the NSX is literally moulded around the driver. Its interior ‘Human Support Cockpit’ boasts exceptional driver control, forward visibility and class-leading ergonomics . This is most evident in the seat, which features top-class holding performance with outstanding comfort and easy ingress/egress. Intuitive controls and a dynamic TFT display in a low-mounted instrument panel are designed to help to ensure the driver’s will is enhanced, and never obstructed.

The NSX unlocks the driver’s full potential with instantaneous “zero delay” launch performance and handling response that almost predicts the driver’s desire. At the heart of the NSX’s extreme capabilities is an all-new mid-mounted, 75-degree, DOHC V6 engine with twin turbochargers married to an Acura-developed 9-speed DCT. The V6 engine employs a race-inspired compact valve train and dry sump lubrication system to help lower the centre of gravity. The all-new 9-speed DCT delivers hair-trigger gear changes and rev-matching downshifts. The rear direct-drive electric motor supports acceleration, braking and transmission shifting performance. Front wheels are driven by twin independent high-output electric motors, which deliver instantaneous torque response and dynamic left-to-right torque distribution.

The resulting driving experience is fluid, empowering, and awe-inspiring.

In keeping with the legacy of the original NSX—the world’s first all-aluminum supercar—the new NSX features an innovative new multi-material body design with groundbreaking material applications. Secured by a carbon fiber floor, torsional and bending forces are engineered to be taken up entirely by the internal frame’s ultra-rigid structure. The NSX employs world’s-first casting technology that combines the design and manufacturing flexibility of a casting process with the strength and elongation properties of a forged material to enable significant weight reduction.

As part of the NSX’s Advanced Sports Package, placement of key powertrain components is optimized to concentrate vehicle mass low and toward the center of the vehicle. Together with its lightweight body, this gives the NSX the lowest centre of gravity in its class .

Handling reaches new heights with lightning-quick response from Sport Hybrid Super-Handling All Wheel Drive (Sport Hybrid SH-AWD), while Agile Handling Assist (AHA) uses the subtle application of brake torque to further enhance yaw response and dynamic stability.

Dynamic performance is further enhanced by fully independent, all-aluminum front and rear suspension and ContiSportContact™ high-performance tires. Powerful, natural and confident braking performance is provided by ultra-high performance carbon-ceramic brake discs.

The NSX’s Integrated Dynamic System features Quiet, Sport, Sport+ and Track modes that adjust engine, motor, transmission and chassis response, as well as the engine sound level. Track mode unleashes the full spectrum of the NSX’s performance capabilities. In addition, a “launch” function enables the ultimate in “zero delay” launch performance, aided by both the engine and three electric motors.

In order to build the next generation supercar, we first had to build a next generation facility. Hence the new Performance Manufacturing Center, where the NSX is constructed entirely in house through a blend of hands-on skill and world’s first technology. Approximately 100 experienced engineers and technicians bring precise levels of quality and craftsmanship to each and every NSX.
